Child Development and Societal Priorities
Our children are our real assets, a nation's best asset.
If we begin concentrating on giving our children the best values, it is only a matter of 10 years when a 5 year old will be 15, and a 15 year old will be a responsible 25 year old man/woman ... and they all will be great examples for their peers and for those younger to them. Peer pressure has great influence.
Ten years may seem a long time, but it is nothing in comparison to a lifetime of fruitful responsible life.
Just imagine how fast our recent 20 years have gone by.
Therefore, we, our society, our governments, need to put an urgent and major focus on child development, with the best resources and appropriations.
No society/no government can ever justify saying that it does not have enough money to give its children the best. Yes, individual families may not have enough, and this is where each of us has a social responsibility to help out. For this noble cause, let each of us give, give, give till it hurts.
Is it not also conceivable that this new crop of these cultured children/men/women will even have positive influence on those older to them ? And, thus, it will only be a matter of time when the whole society will be transformed.

You are absolutely right but unfortunately neither we nor our government feel its responsibility to nourish the new crop with better values.

Dear Brijesh jee:
What is missing is जागृति, which itself is a product of values. This puts us in a quandrum, but we can get out of it. Just like the laws and policies can change the direction of the country, new policies and appropriations towards child development can raise this जागृति and move people to act in this area. Specifically, schools can be given monetary incentives to gear the curiculam in this direction..i.e.morality/value based education.

Respected Nikore Sir,
As for as India is concerned, as much I know Moral Science is a part of curriculum but unfortunately it is taken as formality only. Materialism is spreading its roots so deeply in the society that 'Values' are set aside by the people for monetary gains. In that situation, it is very difficult to imagine that such people will keen to teach 'Values' to their children. Only any magic can change the scenario.
