"यूॅं छू ले आसमाॅं (लघुकथा):
"तुम हर रोज़ रिश्तेदार और रिश्ते-नातों का रोना रोते हो? कितनी बार…"
DESTINY
Friends:
Only four days ago I learnt that Mubarak Begum ji is living the life of a destitute,
financially hard-pressed in her old age, living with a daughter in a one room apartment,
in spite of her glowing success in the prime of her life.
The icons of the film industry that she helped prosper, are not there to help her
at the time of her need.
Her destiny trigerred the following poem in me on the 21st April.
Today, only a few days later .. sadly, I heard that Shamshad Begum ji, another good singer,
has breathed her last.

DESTINY
Doubt reigning doubt,
the white of her eyes now pale
arteries hardening, telling age,
as if a statistic waiting
to depart.
The night's dark getting darker
for her.
Spectre of spiraling smokey thoughts,
struggling, enigmatic abandoned alleys
echoing her long gone past.
Amongst the rubble here and there
still remains the sweet smell of what
used to be her success;
her lips quivering, squeezing
a melody here, a rhyme there,
her own songs now sadly tearful
to her.
Now she knows, being obscure
means darkness competing
with darkness.
Its not just about lifting the shutters
and letting the light in,
for where her mind is, there is no light,
not for her at least.
Terrified silence, angst but no anger,
a bitter-sweet resignation with
emotions still spiraling up,
in her calcified looks there is
no downpour of tears,
for by now she can say without fear
that success, for her,
was a big mocking lie.

Gone days if not reaping are just scars. They repetitively throw one along the blast of the past, that is sucking, nay, horrifying, especially in the late evening of the life.
Remembering Shamshadji with these soulful words is a great tribute to her. I do find my weeping words in your narration.

Resonating with your words, many a time after I write a poem, as I read it,
the emotions of my own poem sink in and make me sad ... as if I am reading
someone else's poem for the first time.
I heard the plight of the singer, and my emotions started flowing into this poem.
