Hymn to my Guru

Alas we think we know what permeates one and all

As if we know That which nothing ever transcends

Yet around us abounds multiplicity's wall after wall

Everyday, we hope that someday it sure would fall

Mind ever so busy, countless pointless wars within

Like mad waves, streams of thoughts in vain begin

Their prolonged mad ceaseless restless affray

Endeavors vast and fast leading us ever astray

There are things that in ignorance we do not see

No matter how much in 'plain sight' they may be

For it is never only in the dark that we need a sight

This is why in you, my Guru, I see my guiding light

In calm of your eyes I see your love's abundance

Your love you hold for me I can never recompense

Please know that cherished love for you, I too share

Bless it and accept  as my offering as I prostate here

In this humble spirit of earnest self-surrender I implore

That during our divine meetings you help me explore ..

My ego, my world of Maya, the nasty pairs of opposites

Ways to rid myself of the false upadhis and a lot more

Forgive me my Guru, for, as always, I ask of you a lot

Know, as your child, dear father, who else shall I ask 

You are my splendid light..... lead kindly light .... lead
